  1. PMP Solution 100

    B. Analogous estimating is a technique for estimating the duration or cost of an activity or a project using historical data from a similar activity or project. However, it is used in the Estimate Activity Durations process and not in the Develop Schedule process.
    C. Context diagrams visually depict the product scope by showing a business system (process, equipment, computer system, etc.), and how people and other systems (actors) interact with it. So, it is not a technique used in the schedule network analysis technique.
    D. Benchmarking involves comparing actual or planned project practices or the project’s quality standards to those of comparable projects to identify best practices, generate ideas for improvement, and provide a basis for measuring performance.

Schedule network analysis is the overarching technique used to generate the project schedule model. It employs several other techniques such as critical path method, resource optimization techniques , and modeling techniques such as What-if scenario analysis and Simulation (Monte Carlo analysis). Therefore, right answer is A. [PMBOK 6th edition, Page 209] [Project Schedule Management]

  2. The answer is correct; however, while the explanation about analogous estimating is correct, it is incorrect when the explanation is associated with choice B. (Bottom-up estimating) Analogous estimating is more closely related to Top-down estimating. (Although Top-down estimating could be broadened to include times where minimal information is known about the project.) This explanation and its association with answer B could confuse some test takers.

Please note, this is a great site, and I have learned a lot from here. I am just trying to payback and make it even better.

You are right, choice B in this question could be misleading related to the explanation. I have already reviewed it.
